Law Conversion
Ahh, the GDL. That all-important law conversion course which is required of all graduates who studied a non-law subject, but are looking to qualify as a lawyer.
In a nutshell, you’ll need to take the GDL if you’ve not studied a qualifying law degree at undergraduate level - usually LLB Law. It’s a fast-track one-year course that will impart all of the legal wisdom you need to continue your law career. You’ll be able to study the GDL at a university or training provider.
It’s worth noting that the days of the GDL are numbered: once the new “super-exam”, the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) comes into play, there won’t be a need for the GDL any more, as the SQE will teach you everything you need to know. However, don’t panic if you’ve factored the GDL into your future plans - there’s going to be a long transition period, where it’s possible to qualify with either the GDL or the SQE.
If you’re a non-law student looking to convert, now is the time to wise up on the GDL. Browse the range of GDL courses available here.
