Hogan Lovells is the latest City law firm to be considering the implementation of a ‘blind CV’ policy in its highly competitive interview process.
A blind CV policy means that interviewers would not be allowed to see information on a candidate’s educational background when they reach the final interview stages.
Clifford Chance, Macfarlanes and Mayer Brown have already set this policy into place with a view to create an unbiased field in the interview stages and eradicate temptation to favour candidates with an Oxbridge degree or private education.
Ben Higson, Hogan Lovells’ graduate recruitment partner said: “We keep our assessment procedures under constant review and regularly discuss our approach with experts in this area. We are very interested in the contextualised approach and are actively exploring a number of different ways for effecting this.
”Furthermore, all of our people involved in recruitment are trained in selection and assessment methods and all of our interviewers receive unconscious bias training.”
