Law Firms Recognised For Social Mobility

Law firms Baker & McKenzie and Linklaters have been recognised by the government and nominated as "Social Mobility Business Compact ‘Champions’".
They join ten other employers and aim to set new benchmarks for social mobility over the next year by developing relationships with schools and students, working with schools or institutions with above average levels of disadvantage, spreading their opportunities across the country and offering non-graduate opportunities to school leavers.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, who set up the Social Mobility Business Compact in 2011, said, “What counts towards your success should be the talent you have and how hard you work, not who your parents are or where you come from. I’m delighted that the Champions we have recognised today appreciate the economic value of recruiting people from all walks of life.
Sarah Gregory, Inclusion & Diversity Partner at Baker & McKenzie said, “Tackling social mobility underpins our vision to be a truly inclusive organisation and is key to our work in ensuring the legal profession becomes more accessible. It is a privilege to have been recognised as a Champion.
Simon Branigan, Partner at Linklaters, said, “Social mobility is a key issue for Linklaters, and across the legal sector as a whole. We continue to widen access to opportunities through our Realising Potential social mobility programme to ensure that Linklaters becomes more representative of the diverse society in which we operate.”
