RPC secures Singapore link

The formalization of RPC’s Singapore alliance has been completed as they have secured a joint venture with Premier Law, as part of their plan to build on their banking litigation work in the area and increase their practice size by nearly double.
The joint venture will be called RPC Premier Law, and it promises to extend RPC’s reach into the corporate law, dispute resolution and insurance law fields within the region. The new practice will have 27 legal professionals, and in that number there will be four partners.
There is talk that financial disputes are to be the main focus of the firm’s practice due to the nature of Premier Law being one of the few firms able to litigate against major banks.
Jonathan Watmough, managing partner at RPC stated: “We’ve spent several years looking for the final piece in an evolving puzzle. In Premier Law we have found the right strategic partner to allow us to offer the full suite of dispute resolution, transactional and insurance services across three of the leading financial centres in the world – London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
“The combination of Premier’s corporate and commercial capability with our existing presence in Hong Kong will give us the critical mass to take on new and larger deals.”
This marks another significant step for RPC after they first opened their doors in Singapore in 2011, and their new partners will be hoping that this is the first step in a long and prosperous relationship.
