Following their initial drive to try and convince law firms to move to the Steel City, Creative Sheffield held another conference this month to try and drum up more interest.
In a talk that was held at the headquarters of the Law Society, both the Creative Sheffield team and the firms already in the city encouraged other firms to join them and help shape the future of ‘northshoring.’
They pushed the quality of life that could be had in Sheffield, as well as the pipelines of graduate talent already resident within the city.
Matthew Peacock, a partner at OMC Consultants, told the Law Gazette that “Law firms and lawyers are living in a different landscape to 10 years ago. The marketplace has changed and is continuing to change. All firms are under pressure to deliver more for less.” As such, he expected more northshoring to occur in the near future.
To add to this, local firms stated that they felt more northshoring to Sheffield would only help the city to retain its talent and allow people to set up and build their lives there – highlighting that it is only when there is options and paths available to people that they feel able to stay.
