Solicitors for the Elderly announces Scottish expansion

Written By Jack J Collins, Editor of AllAboutLaw.co.uk

SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly), which is the England's foremost training and best practice regulatory organisation for those legal professionals who specialise in older or more vulnerable clients. has expanded its membership to professionals who reside north of the border.

Solicitors for the Elderly is a not-for-profit group which dispenses advice, best practice and training for legal professionals ranging from solicitors and barristers representing elderly clients, to legal executives advising on wills or powers of attorney.

Having launched in Scotland on 26th January, the group is looking to recruit more members in the Scottish area in order to  become a consolidated and strong group of legal professionals, supporting the elderly and making sure that people know how important it is to seek out legal advice on certain matters.

There are a host of benefits to fully-accredited members of the group, such as business referrals, discounts on training providers, access to a comprehensive database of online information; as well as invitations to national conferences and networking events which are crucial to the progression of the industry.

Elspeth Paget, Regional Coordinator for Scotland, said: “Scotland has been on our radar for a while as an area with a particularly large demand for specialist support in older client care, and we are extremely pleased to be able to extend our member benefits to professionals across the country.

“Our sector is becoming increasingly important as the UK’s population gets older and professional memberships like SFE, which distinguish lawyers who provide the highest level of specialist legal care and support, are needed more now than ever.

“Since its launch in 1996, SFE has grown into a membership of over 1,500 lawyers across England and Wales, and is widely regarded as the gold standard for solicitors and chartered legal executives advising on older client law. We look forward to replicating this success, and more importantly, making a difference to older people here in Scotland.”
