Who's on the Panel?

Farhan

I have been fortunate enough to secure a training contract with a top 15 UK law firm upon graduating from Brunel University. The most difficult aspect of the journey was balancing responsibilities such as my part-time job alongside my degree and legal work experience opportunities. It really felt as if there weren't enough hours in the day sometimes! In my final year it was especially challenging with my dissertation, pro bono commitments and vacation scheme applications, but learning how to schedule effectively to keep on top of my classes helped me to achieve everything I wanted.

Alex

Hello! My name is Alex, I’ve recently completed my masters degree and I’ve secured a training contract with an international commercial law firm.

For me, the most difficult part of the journey was learning to manage lots of rejection during my application cycles. Applying for vacation schemes and training contracts is a long process and there were several rejections along the way, one of which was at the final stages.

I overcame this by reframing my mindset, and seeing my rejections as opportunities to learn something, rather than proof that I’m not good enough. I believe my successful application was a culmination of all the things I’d learnt from my rejections that came before it.

Maria

My name is Maria, and I have managed to secure a training contract with a global law firm in my third year of studying Scots Law LLB at the University of Glasgow. The most difficult moment for me was keeping perseverance and motivation during vacation scheme applications, amongst facing many rejections. It was also difficult to balance studying, working part-time, vacation scheme applications, and other personal commitments. I overcame this by reminding myself what the final goal was, and how rejection is redirection, and I only needed one yes!
