Morrison Foerster (“MoFo”) is seeking talented and ambitious aspiring lawyers who value collaboration, teamwork, and commitment to excellence to join our 2025 Summer Vacation Scheme in our London office.

We will run two two-week vacation schemes in June and July 2025, offering you a chance to really get to know our firm. MoFo summer associates are entrusted with responsibilities and tasks typically assigned to trainee solicitors. They include:

- Drafting legal documents such as briefs, contracts, and client memoranda;

- Assisting in drafting and negotiation sessions;

- Shadowing client meetings or calls; and

- Performing due diligence in corporate transactions.

Summer associates work directly with our seasoned lawyers on substantive client matters, receive unparalleled mentorship and guidance, participate in comprehensive practice and professional skills training, and experience MoFo’s shared values, inclusive community, and diverse practice areas firsthand. We treat each vacation scheme as an extended part of the interview process, and it is our sole method of selecting our future trainees.

Who We Are

MoFo is a leading global firm with over 1,000 lawyers in key technology and finance centres in Europe, the United States, and Asia. In Europe, we have a team of elite lawyers in our strategic hubs in London, Berlin, and Brussels. We work alongside our colleagues in the United States and Asia, drawing on cultural, jurisdictional, and market knowledge to deliver the best advice and client service with a global approach.

Dynamic technology and life sciences companies, some of the largest financial investors and financial institutions, leading consumer product companies, and other market leaders come to MoFo for our expertise, knowledge, advice, and individually tailored client service. We handle some of the world’s largest cross-border transactions and resolve some of the biggest disputes across multiple jurisdictions.

MoFo was built on, and continues to succeed because of, the collective talent of our lawyers and their innovative approach in the practice of law. We practice in a collegial environment where we value teamwork, diverse perspectives, and employee wellbeing.

Our Trainee Programme

Our approach enables trainees to start strong in their legal careers, with an induction that is carefully crafted to enhance professional and practical skills developed during formal education. This equips trainees with the essential tools to meet the needs of our colleagues across the firm and our clients. Trainees have access to a variety of mentors to guide them through new experiences and ongoing learning and development opportunities required to underpin their legal skills.

The training period consists of four six-month seats, with the potential to complete overseas secondments in our offices or with our clients. Seat options are subject to business and client needs at the time of the rotations, and trainees are invited to identify particular areas of interest during seat allocation discussions.

MoFo partners, associates, and business professionals are committed to supporting trainees to succeed, so you will receive plenty of formal and informal support. In addition to the above, the Graduate Recruiting and Trainee Committee serves as a constant source of guidance and stewardship.

Who You Are

We are looking for talented, ambitious individuals who value collaboration, teamwork, and commitment to excellence and display a genuine enthusiasm for a career in law and interest in our core London practices.

Strong academics are vital, and we require you to be on track for, or to have already achieved, a minimum of a 2:1 degree and a minimum of AAB (or equivalent) at A Level. There is the option to add mitigating circumstances to your application. We are also pleased to share that we work with RARE’s Contextual Recruitment System, which helps us to understand each applicant’s achievements in the context in which they have been gained.

If you are currently a law student, you can apply from the penultimate year of your law degree. Non-law students should apply from the final year of your degree. We also welcome applications from individuals with relevant industry experience who are considering changing careers.

Sponsorship

Morrison Foerster is partnered with the University of Law to deliver the Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PgDL) and Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) preparation programmes. The collaboration ensures that all future trainees have the essential knowledge and commercial awareness for the next steps of their legal career with MoFo and provides future trainees with a well-rounded introduction to the practice and business of law.
