People are the key to our success. With our graduate trainee solicitor recruitment scheme we are looking for our partners of the future.

Gordons takes on up to four graduate trainee solicitors each year. Successful candidates benefit from close supervision working alongside experienced lawyers.

We expect our trainees to get involved in client work straight away and to make valuable contributions to the firm and our success. We also often have opportunities for future trainees to join us as paralegals before their training so that they can really hit the ground running. Gordons trainees can expect training and support from across the firm throughout.

There is always fierce competition for our graduate trainee solicitor places. Although we do look for academic achievement, we also place strong emphasis on character and are looking for people with a great attitude who can forge their career with us.

Are we right for you?

Gordons is an ambitious, straight talking, commercial law firm based in Leeds and Bradford.

Our great reputation means that our client base extends nationally and beyond. At Gordons you get to work with some fantastic businesses and well-known brands.

Our lawyers are bright, hardworking and committed to providing the best service to our clients. We want everyone who works here to contribute to our success, so we provide a supportive environment and opportunities for them to do so.

We offer all the benefits of working for a large, national firm, such as focussed career progression and a wide range of specialisms, alongside the friendly and down-toearth ethos of a smaller firm, where you get to know everyone.

Being one of our trainees means that from day one you will be working with our clients, standing you in good stead for your future career with us.

What you can expect from us:

The training contract lasts two years, during which you will complete four six-month seats learning different specialisms including: Commercial property, Dispute resolution, Property litigation, Construction, Corporate/Commercial, Employment, Banking/Insolvency, Private Client

Training & Support

In addition to a department supervisor for each seat to guide you and give regular feedback, you will also have buddy support from your peers and be allocated a senior mentor to give tips and advice to aid your personal and professional development. Your supervisor will appraise your performance at the end of each six-month seat and advise your next supervisor as to how they can help you to reach your objectives and develop your skills. As well as on-the-job training, you will have the opportunity to attend internal and external seminars, covering technical knowledge as well as personal skills development.

Marketing & Business Development

Our trainees are encouraged to get involved in the marketing and development of the firm. This includes writing blogs and articles for the website and social media, representing us at business events, and getting to know our clients straight away. You also have the opportunity to promote our training contracts to prospective trainees by helping and sharing your own experiences with students through networking events and mentoring at local law schools.
