The number of students who sat Level 6 modules as part of the CILEx route to legal qualification has increased by 48% since the previous exam session.
Supporting figures from LawCabs, the admissions service for those wishing to study the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or the Legal Practice Course (LPC) shows that LPC applications for 2014/15 are down 10% on the previous year. At the same time, the number of applications to CILEx’s graduate programme has increased 32%.
CILEx’s Graduate Fast-track Diploma provides law degree and GDL graduates with an entry point for those aspiring to be a lawyer, without the need to undertake the LPC or undergo the ordeal of securing a training contract.
Instead of undertaking a training contract or pupillage, CILEx students need to complete three years’ qualifying employment to become a Chartered Legal Executive lawyer, during which time they gain the experience to meet the Fellowship criteria.
Vicky Purtill, head of qualifications at CILEx, said, “CILEx’s graduate route into law is becoming more and more popular which is a reflection of the credible opportunities our earn-as-you-learn route into law brings.”
