International law firm Shearman & Sterling have followed suit to their counterparts and raised their salaries for trainee solicitors and newly qualified associates. And boy, what a raise it is.
First year trainees will see their salary rise from £39,000 to a staggering £45,000. Second year trainees will get paid a tidy £50,000. Thank you very much!
It gets better if you’re a newly qualified associate. At Shearman & Sterling, they’ll now be paid £88,000. Not. Bad. At. All.
Nick Buckworth, London managing partner at Shearman & Sterling, said: "We are committed to ensuring our talented lawyers and trainees are rewarded and recognised for their contribution to the firm’s growth and success. This move, combined with our career development programme, is part of our strategy to ensure we attract and retain the top talent in the market.”
