This year’s most gay-friendly employers audit carried out by the LGBT charity sees an increase in law firms from last year’s listings, with Simmons & Simmons placed top for legal sector employers at eighth in the overall rankings.
The rankings showcase the UK’s best employers for lesbian, gay and bisexual and transgender staff. Stonewall assessed entries to the rankings using a workplace equality index to measure equality in the workplace.
Ten law firms in all were included in the Top 100 list; an increase from last year’s eight. It’s a positive move forwards for a sector which has traditionally struggled with diversity.
Simmons & Simmons retained their position at the top of legal sector rankings for the third time consecutively, and achieved eighth place overall in a list that was topped by Accenture. Baker & McKenzie also didn’t move from last year’s second position in the legal sector rankings. CMS Cameron Mckenna took third place, sharing thirtieth in the overall rankings with Herbert Smith Freehills.
Norton Rose Fulbright and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer were new to the rankings this year at joint sixty-sixth.
