Dechert Application Process

From the application form and written task to the interview, here's all the key information you'll need to know about Dechert's application process.

Stage one

At Dechert, you will need to apply for a vacation scheme first. During the scheme, you will be automatically assessed for a training contract. The first stage is an application form which is completed online. Key deadlines for our applications are:

Application Opening: 1 September 2025

Winter Vacation Scheme Deadline: 17 October 2025

Spring Vacation Scheme Deadline: 31 December 2025

Summer Vacation Scheme Deadline: 31 December 2025

Stage two

The second stage in our recruitment process is a written exercise. This is your opportunity to display your ability to produce a technical piece of writing and showcase your motivation for a career in commercial law at Dechert.

Stage three

Successful candidates will then be invited to a face-face interview with a partner and senior associate as well as the opportunity to meet and have a tour of the office with a current trainee. We believe that interviews are a two-way process and include plenty of time for questions from applicants.
