Of course, you'll need to complete SQE2 after you have passed SQE1, but how and when should you fit in the other elements of the SQE?
One of the major changes with the introduction of the SQE is that there is no longer a requirement to complete a training contract. Instead, you can do two years of legal work experience anywhere you choose. As a result, there are no restrictions on when you need to complete your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE). You will simply have to complete it before you apply to the roll of solicitors, but you choose when you apply.
When you do the SQE2 depends on your personal preferences. Some say it’s better to finish your work experience before your exams, as you may learn information while working that will help you with your exams. Others say it’s best to avoid doing it during your exams as you will struggle to balance working and studying. However, you should choose whichever option you think suits you best.

The SQE2’s availability in Welsh was implemented as part of a phased process. Finally, since Autumn 2023, candidates have now been able to answer questions in Welsh as well as the questions being in Welsh, which was not previously possible. However, the SQE1 will not be available in Welsh until Autumn 2024.
After you have passed SQE2, you should finish your QWE if you have not done so already. After this, you can start your application to the roll of solicitors.
