Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

Sidley Application Process
Sidley Austin's application process is somewhat unique, so make sure you familiarise yourself with the process before submitting an application.
The process
At Sidley Austin, the application process is made up of an application form and a partner interview. You will apply first for a vacation scheme, and then will be assessed again during the scheme for a training contract.
Applications for the Winter 2024 close on the 13th September 2024 and Spring/Summer 2025 vacation schemes close on the 10th January 2025. The firm recruit for their training contracts through the vacation schemes so they encourage all students to apply and get to know the firm!
