Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

Stage One
All applicants for Bristol, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow start by completing an online application form.
Stage Two
Successful applicants for Bristol, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow at the application form stage will be invited to attend an assessment centre.
For the vacation scheme, this is a half-day assessment centre, which includes an hour-long strengths-based interview, a group exercise and written task.
For direct training contract applicants, you will attend a half-day assessment centre, which includes an interview, a group exercise and written exercise.
Belfast Application Process
If you apply to the Belfast programme, you will complete the following, in order:
- Online application form
- CV and cover letter application
- A full-day assessment centre, which includes a strengths-based interview and a group exercise.
