Training Contract

During your training contract, you’ll complete four six month seats, with regular reviews. All seats begin with a handover and technical training. Trainees can complete a seat in the firm’s finance, funds and restructuring practice, another in their corporate practice, and one to help develop contentious experience. There is also the opportunity for an international or client secondment.

If you’re interested in a legal career but aren’t sure if you want to be a lawyer, why not apply for Ashurst’s Advance Pathway Programme? Candidates begin their journey as a legal analyst, completing tasks normally carried out by junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals. During the programme, you’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of work, and will receive bespoke training and supervision. Pathway opportunities are numerous, and include legal technology, specialist paralegal and analyst management.

Vacation Scheme

Ashurst holds two vacation schemes each year: a week-long Winter scheme for finalists and graduates from all degree subjects and a three-week Summer scheme for final-year students and graduates from all degree subjects, as well as law students in their second year.

During the scheme, candidates gain a good understanding of what a career at Ashurst is like. The scheme provides you with the opportunity to learn more about the firm’s culture and the kind of work they get involved in. You’ll be supervised by a qualified lawyer as well as a personal mentor, who will assist you as you complete useful and stimulating on-the-job tasks.

Candidates also get involved in induction sessions, workshops, team-building events and social occasions organised by trainees, who will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. You’ll be paid £450 per week. At the end of your vacation scheme, all candidates are interviewed for a training contract.
