Sustainability at Charles Russell Speechlys
As a major UK Firm with international offices, Charles Russell Speechlys is commited to running a sustainable business and reducing their environmental footprint.
The Firm recognise that this commitment must be reflected in the operational decisions they make as a business – adopting best environmental practice, taking responsibility for their actions and striving to achieve challenging targets for emission and waste reduction. They have set a UK target of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030, working from independently verified 2019 baseline emissions.
The Firm’s Environmental Sustainability Task Force (eFORCE) helps monitor the way they deal with their environmental impact, helps with new initiatives and aims to inspire people to take action at work and at home in support of their net zero target. Together they have:
- Created a Working From Home Calculator tool for UK staff to complete to track their carbon emissions
- Received recognition from Naked Sprout Bamboo toilet roll for being the top users of 2022
- London moved to low powered LED bulbs that used 70% less energy
- Stocked toilets with bamboo toilet roll, Soap 2O (natural resources) and TOTM sustainable period care products.
- Cleaning – they use no nasty cleaning chemicals, you will find cleaning caddies on the working floors - the sustainable cleaning sprays are made from water and is produced onsite.
- Achieved a Clean City Award in 2021 for ‘Communication Engagement’
