Foot Anstey FAQs
From pro bono to secondment opportunities, we've got the answers to all of your questions about Foot Anstey here.
When do applications open and close?
For their vacation schemes, applications open from Monday 9 September 2024 and close at midday on Friday 3 January 2025. For their training contract, applications open from Monday 2 December 2024 and close at midday on Friday 21 March 2025. Try not to leave your application until the last minute. Take your time to create the best possible application you can.
What can I apply for? Vacation Schemes or Training Contract?
Foot Anstey welcome you to make one application (either a vacation scheme OR training contract) per application window.
Their vacation scheme is a great way to experience Foot Anstey and find out more about the work you could be doing. At the end of each vacation scheme, you'll have the opportunity to complete an assessment for a training contract. If you already have plenty of work experience and would prefer to apply directly for a training contract, feel free to do so.
What’s involved in the Training Contract application process?
There are three parts to the process – an online application, followed by an online assessment and then an in-person assessment day at their Bristol office.
Do I need to have completed a Vacation Scheme to secure a training contract at Foot Anstey?
No. Some people do a Vacation Scheme there or at another firm – and it does help people make decisions about the firm they want to train at. But they know a lot of people don’t have that opportunity, and they want to be fair to everyone in their recruitment process.
I have already completed my LPC, can I still apply?
For trainees starting with Foot Anstey in September 2026 and beyond, if you have previously self-funded the LPC, they will require you to take the SQE 2.
Where would I be based? Can I choose?
During your onboarding process, Foot Anstey ask you to select a base office between Bristol, Exeter or Southampton. The firm's trainees work across all three locations (and occasionally others) depending on the location of their seat. The firm don't require individuals to relocate for each of their seats but provide support for trainees so they can spend a reasonable time in the office with their supervisor.
How many trainees do you retain at the end of the contract?
Foot Anstey have a very high retention rate as they want everyone who starts with us to go on and enjoy a career with Foot Anstey.
