Lewis Silkin FAQs

Find out the answers to all of your key questions about Lewis Silkin here.

When am I able to apply for a Training Contract?

Lewis Silkin recruit two years in advance, so their Training Contract opportunities are open to all graduates, all final-year non-law degree students and all penultimate-year law degree students. Applications open on 14 October.

I didn’t study law at a Russell Group university; will this affect my application?

No. Our trainees come from a variety of backgrounds and just under half (around 46%) of our trainees studied law at university. Applicants will not be at an advantage just for having attended Oxbridge or a Russell Group university. We look at applications holistically and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Do you have a preferred provider for the SQE?

If you have already completed your courses, Lewis Silkin does not mind where you studied. They ask all of their sponsored students to attend BPP University Law School, although the location is up to you.

When am I able to apply to the Solicitor Apprenticeship?

We recruit solicitor apprentices on a bi-annual basis. We'll be opening applications for our September 2026 intake on 1 October. We'll next be recruiting for September 2028 and applications for this will open in 2027.

Do you have any minimum/average grade requirements?

For our Training Contract, we do not have minimum grade requirements for either degree classification or A levels. On average, our trainees have achieved AAB at A level and a 2.1 in their degree, but these are not requirements for us. We also take any extenuating circumstances into account that may have impacted your grades and there is a section on the application form to input this information. For the Solicitor Apprenticeship, our apprenticeship provider requires a minimum of three A Levels totalling 128 UCAS points (ABB or equivalent) in addition to 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications, including English and maths. We take extenuating circumstances into account that may have impacted your grades.
