Training Contract

Milbank expect future trainees to complete SQE1 & 2 before the commencement of the training contract (plus a PGDL for non-law graduates)

The firm has a small intake of up to eight trainees compared to the magic circle and other larger city law firms. This means high quality exposure to work and a smaller ‘family’ type environment, where lawyers can benefit from excellent learning and development.

Trainees will have four six-month seat rotations in all of the firm’s practice group areas. 

There are eight practice areas: European Leveraged Finance and Capital Markets, Project Finance, Alternative Investments, Transportation and Space, Litigation, Tax, Corporate and Financial Restructuring.

Vacation Scheme

The Milbank Vacation Scheme will provide candidates with an excellent insight into the firm’s work, people, and culture. You will spend time in Milbank’s office, working alongside partners and associates and enjoying a wide range of training and social activities. Everyone on the scheme receives automatic consideration for a training contract as the firm typically recruits all of their trainees from their Vacation Scheme.

We will be running our Spring Vacation Scheme from 13 to 17 April 2026. Our Summer Vacation Scheme will run from Monday 29 June to Friday 10 July 2026.
