Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

How many apprentices do you recruit per year?
We will be hiring two solicitor apprentices this year.
What support will I have during my apprenticeship?
You will have an overarching supervisor, a partner at the firm, who will provide supervision throughout the duration of your apprenticeship.
You will also be assigned a junior lawyer, one of our recently qualified graduate solicitor apprentices, as your buddy, who will support you in the onboarding process, provide insight into the day-to-day activities of Sackers and help you to settle in.
University of Law will also provide you with a Skills Coach who will meet you on a 12-weekly basis to work on the professional skills set.
