Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

In terms of apprenticeships, Wedlake Bell advocates for them and are now in the second year of our Solicitor Apprenticeship programme. We are excited to see the programme develop and help access to the profession. We also have apprentices within the IT Department, the firm supports these apprentices in pursuing IT qualifications alongside practical on-the-job experience.
Through the Law Society Diversity Access Scheme, the firm assists promising individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds or those facing extraordinary obstacles to qualification. Work experience placements in different departments of the firm are offered, complemented by support from the HR Department, which includes career guidance, assistance with CVs, and interview coaching. The firm also offers placements via The Sutton Trust and the 10,000 Interns programme.
