Training Contract

Wedlake Bell's approach is to recruit a small number of trainees each year. Our small, close knit intakes are able to receive high-quality training and experience high levels of client contact right from the start of their training. We are currently recruiting 8 trainees per year. 

How do I apply? 

Applications for the 2028 Training Contract opens on 1 November 2025. The deadline to submit your application is 1 May 2026.

To apply, you will need to submit an online application form. This includes a covering letter. 

When you are completing your form, just be yourself! We are not looking to recruit a specific type of person.

What is the selection process? 

All applications are reviewed and selected candidates are invited to attend a first round interview day. The first round interview day will take place in the summer and consists of a written assessment and an interview. This will likely be conducted as a virtual interview. 

Successful candidates will be invited to attend an in-person final round interview and final written assessment which will take place at our office in London. On the day, there will also be a Networking lunch so that you can meet more members of the team and find out more about the firm.

Vacation Scheme

The Wedlake Bell summer vacation scheme offers 8 candidates a fantastic insight into the firm. The scheme is 3 weeks long and you are able to experience working with 3 teams during the scheme. Each week, you are assigned a fee-earner and you will become actively involved in their case-load. Alongside this, you'll experience life as a potential trainee – attending training and firm social events. 

The scheme is very structured and successful applicants will gain first-hand experience of life as a trainee solicitor at Wedlake Bell and an insight into our open and friendly culture. 

The 2026 scheme will run from Monday 22 June to Friday 10 July 2026. 

Applications will open on 1 November 2025 adn the deadline to submit your applications is 23:59 on 12 January 2026.
