Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

Discover the steps you will need to take in order to become a trainee solicitor at Withers.
Stage One
In the first instance, candidates will be required to complete an online application form.
Stage Two
Candidates will complete an online strength-based assessment before being invited to an interview. If successful, candidates will attend an interview which will last for 50 minutes and will involve speaking to a partner and member of the HR team
Stage Three
Candidates who are successful in the online assessment and first interview will either be offered a place if they applied for a vacation scheme or be invited to assessment centre if they have applied for a training contract. The assessment centre consists of a group exercise, interactive exercise and a presentation/interview with two partners. If a candidate is fluent in a foreign language, they might also be asked to speak to someone at the firm who also speaks that language.
