Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

Non-Rotational Training Contract
Our distinctive training contract structure is integral to our culture and success and the benefits are felt at every level. In the absence of a rigid seat-system, trainees have the flexibility to mould their career from the earliest opportunity and enjoy a high level of responsibility. Our trainees are quickly integrated into various teams across the Firm and gain unparalleled exposure to different areas of law. Trainees are never held back by set ‘trainee’ tasks or have to drop an interesting case or deal to move on to another department. This aids strong client bonds and opportunities to assist on all aspects of a transaction.
Vacation Schemes
A two-week vacation scheme is the ideal opportunity to discover whether our distinctive way of training suits you. During a scheme you will work on real, client matters, join group exercises and interactive workshops. The very nature of the scheme also helps to determine your suitability to our distinctive way of training, and each individual is encouraged to really consider whether it is right for them.
You can apply for a Vacation Scheme in 2025/2026 which is also an application for a Training Contract to commence in September 2028.
