Family law: Life, litigation and real-world client work
What is it really like to practise family law? In this session, the BPP team will interview a panel of practising family lawyers to explore the realities of working in this challenging and deeply human area of practice. The discussion will cover the nature of the work, the skills required to succeed and the personal qualities that are particularly important when advising clients through significant life events. Students will gain a clearer understanding of the day-to-day experience of family lawyers and the routes into this rewarding specialism.

Linklaters application process
Interested in applying for a job at Linklaters? Here’s everything you need to know about the application process.
Stage one: Short application form and online Capp assessment
Linklaters’ online assessment focuses on making the most of your time. Candidates must complete the short online form (30 minutes) with basic information and the online Capp assessment (60-90 minutes) by the application deadline. No preparation is required for the online Capp assessment.
Stage two: The critical thinking test (Watson Glaser)
Linklaters will ask you to take this test once you have submitted your application form, so you can show off your critical and logical thinking. You'll get a guide as to what to expect and how to prepare for the test once you've applied. It's important to take the time to review and to practise the test beforehand. Candidates will have a 5-day deadline, from the date of submitting the online Capp assessment, to complete the Watson Glaser online test. Linklaters strongly advise that you complete a practice test for the Watson Glaser.
Stage three: The assessment centre
If you’re selected for an interview, you’ll also be invited to join an online chat session with Linklaters’ graduate recruiters and other candidates, to answer any questions you might have ahead of the day. The firm will also share tips and practical guidance, so you feel well prepared. The day is made up of three parts: a case study, competency based interview with Trainee Recruitment and an interview with a Partner and Managing Associate.
