VWV Application Process

There is a two stage application process: an online written application followed by a video interview. Candidates need to have submitted the application before the closing date stated on the advert. They will then have one week from submitting the written application to complete the video interview. After we've reviewed all the applications and videos, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment center at one of our offices in March. If you are successful at the assessment center, you will be invited to take part in a vacation scheme in June. Offers for Training Contracts will be made shortly after the conclusion of the vacation scheme.

Application Form

On the application form, candidates will be asked to provide contact details and to give detailed information around their work experience and their education. When completing the work experience section, candidates should focus on the skills that were demonstrated and developed at each role. The next part of the form includes a longer question that will allow candidates to demonstrate their knowledge of VWV and our values.

Video Interview

Once the application form is submitted, candidates will be invited to complete a video interview. They will have one week from submitting the written application to complete the video interview. There is a practice question as part of the video interview so you can get familiar with how the platform works, as well as preparation time for each question and the ability to re-record one answer for each question. The interview questions are designed to let us get to know more about you, your skills and motivations.

Assessment Centre

Once we have reviewed all written applications and video interviews, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre at one of our offices. The assessment centre will include a team exercise, written activity and a short interview. There will also be plenty of time to network and get to know our current trainees and members of our legal teams.

Vacation Scheme

Following the assessment centre, successful candidates will be invited to attend a vacation scheme at one of our offices. The scheme will include time in our legal teams doing real legal work as well as other assessments, workshops and networking opportunities.

Training Contract Interview

Candidates attending the vacation scheme will also have a training contract interview during the scheme. The interview will be conducted by a three person panel including a Partner, a member of the Early Talent team and a solicitor who recently qualified at VWV. The questions cover a range of topics but all are designed to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and awareness of VWV and the skills and attributes that will make you a good trainee.
