VWV Jobs

We offer two routes of qualification at VWV. Training Contracts are opportunities for anyone who has or is currently studying for a degree. Solicitor Apprenticeships are designed for people who do not have a degree and prefer to work alongside studying.

Training Contract

Our Training Contracts are suitable for candidates who would like to qualify with the LPC and would like to secure a period of recognised training as well as for those who will qualify under the SQE and are looking for structured Qualifying Work Experience (QWE). If future trainees don't already have the LPC then we will sponsor them on an LLM in Legal Practice (SQE1 & SQE2).

Your training contract will last two years and during that time you will experience four different areas of law, with each seat lasting six months. We offer seats across a range of different practice areas, for example: Real Estate, Private Client, Charities, Corporate, Regulatory Compliance and Employment. In each seat you'll be supervised by a qualified lawyer and support will be on hand from the rest of your team and our Early Talent team.

The application and assessment process comprises of an online application form and video interview followed by an assessment center in March and a Vacation Scheme and final interview in June. We have trainees in all four of our offices.

Vacation Scheme

VWV's Vacation Scheme is an opportunity to experience real legal work and get to know first hand what life is like at VWV. We hold four short vacation schemes each summer - one in each of our offices - and each scheme lasts between 3 and 5 days and forms part of the training contract assessment process. As well as spending time in some of our legal teams, participants will also attend information sessions, workshops and networking events. A Training Contract interview also forms part of the scheme.

Solicitor Apprenticeship

The VWV Solicitor Apprenticeship is a 6-year Level 7 programme.

Across four days per week, you'll learn on the job by supporting one of our legal teams, with one day per week being your allocated study day. You'll have a supervisor who will help you to develop and make sure you're working towards your qualification. You'll also have a Mentor, most likely a Paralegal, who can support and guide you, plus you'll receive pastoral support from a member of the Early Careers Recruitment Team. Although you'll start in one team, as you move through your apprenticeship, you'll have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of different legal areas which could include: Real Estate, Private Client, Commercial, Personal Injury and Charities, among many others.

After four years you'll have achieved an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice at which time you'll join our Trainee Solicitors rotating into a different team every six months, enabling you to become a well-rounded commercial lawyer. During those final two years you'll sit your SQE1 and SQE2 exams. At the end of the six years (and subject to character and suitability assessment) you'll be a fully qualified Solicitor registered with the SRA!

Eligibility requirements are three A-Levels (or equivalent) at grade B or above and 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 (or equivalent). The application and assessment process comprises of an online
