Freeths FAQs

Find the answers to all of your key questions about Freeths here!

When should I apply to your Legal Assistant Programme?

Freeths recruit Legal Assistants on a rolling basis throughout the year. Candidates should submit their applications no more than a few months prior to their availability to start work with the firm. They will then consider your application for positions they have available at that time and if you are successful, you will join the firm upon graduation. If you have already graduated, then please apply at any time!

What are the entry requirements to your Legal Assistant Programme?

Freeths are open-minded about the talent they choose for their Legal Assistant programme, but you should be expecting a good degree and be someone who’s passionate about taking on new challenges and driven to be excellent every day.

Are there opportunities available for students below their final year at university?

Yes, Freeths offer a variety of opportunities targeted at younger students.

Freeths offer an Early Talent Pathway for students in their first year of university. It involves an insight day at one of their UK offices, giving you experience in what it is like to work in the legal sector. You will be assessed throughout, and if successful, you will have the opportunity to progress to their Work Experience Programme and Legal Assistant Programme in later years.

Their Work Experience Programme is open to students in their penultimate year of study, offering a week in one of their offices where you will experience hands-on work in the firm and learn about what life is like at their leading law firm. Your performance during work experience will be monitored, and if you excel, Freeths will invite you to a final interview where you can secure a place on their Legal Assistant programme.

Freeths also offer School Leaver apprenticeships for students interested in a career in law but not interested in going to university. They offer level 2 and 3 apprenticeshops across a wide range of business areas, including IT, finance and administration, as well as a level 7 solicitor apprenticeship.
