Graduate Legal Assistant Programme

The Legal Assistant programme at Freeths is open to final-year students (either a law or non-law degree). It provides a stepping stone to their Graduate Apprenticeship and ultimately becoming a lawyer at their high-performing firm.

As a legal assistant, you will work alongside their talented team, providing administrative and legal support to trainees, lawyers and partners – giving you a true picture of what a career in law can offer.

The programme initially runs for six months, with the firm reviewing your performance every three months. After the six months, the firm will decide if your performance merits a second six-month contract. After nine months, the firm will decide if they'd like you to progress onto their Graduate Apprenticeship.

Graduate Apprenticeship

The Graduate Apprenticeship at Freeths is their formal training programme for graduates looking to qualify as a solicitor. It’s delivered as a higher-level apprenticeship (level 7) following your completion of Freeth's Graduate Legal Assistant Programme.

The apprenticeship lasts for 25 months split 80-20 between work and study. You’ll spend four days a week working in their offices and one day studying for the Solicitor Qualifying Exams (SQE1 and SQE2) which are funded by the firm. You will regularly rotate seats across different areas of law, so you get the right experience to complete your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).
